Now a suggestion can be to take advantage of the current cycle racks and the

public transport system and find some suitable places for parking nearby.

We found an area of Wroclaw Municipal Stadium with a parking capacity of

2,250 places with a possible extension if necessary (see Figure 7.11) [12].

This area should be promoted more for the following reasons:

• Connection to the city centre by public transport.

• Enough parking places for cars.

• Good availability of cycle lanes, cycle racks and the Wroclaw City Bike system.

• Location positioned before traffic congestion usually begins (see Figure 7.12).

Scalable URban TRAffic Control (SURTRAC) is an intelligent traffic control

system working in real time, developed by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University

(see Figure 7.13). SURTRAC optimises the control of traffic signals to make the traffic

flow more smoothly for both urban grids and corridors. The main goals were to reduce

waiting, traffic congestion, pollution and shorten the trips. SURTRAC system has been
