A compact microbeam source
A multi-slit collimator for divergent
beams
At the European Synchrotron microbeams are shaped by
a multi-slit collimator with parallel slits
-For a divergent source, parallel slits off axis would block
the beam
-Therefore slit openings need to account for the beam
divergence
-We chose a plate thickness of 5 mm
-Manufacturing needs to be carried out with ±1.5’
accuracy for the inclination of each slit!
-Positioning with ±2.5 µm accuracy
