23. Secure the top linen under the foot of the mattress and
mitre the corners. (Refer to Skill 7-8.) Loosen the top
linen over the patient’s feet by grasping them in the area
of the feet and pulling gently towards the foot of the bed.
24. Return the patient to a comfortable position.
25. Raise the bed side rail and lower the bed. Reattach the call
bell and any drainage tubes.
26. Dispose of soiled linens according to facility policy.
27. Remove used PPE/equipment and dispose of them in the
appropriate receptacle.
28. Perform hand hygiene.
29. Replace clean equipment in the appropriate storage area.
30. Document in the patient’s chart and report any abnormal
results to a senior nurse, medical officer or endorsed
nurse practitioner immediately.
