Light red; Lafite, La Tour, Margaux, Hermitage, Haut-
Brion, Chateauxneuf, Rauzan and Ausone.
Heavy red: Clos Vougeot, Chambertin, Volnay, Richeborg,
Corton, Pommard and Beaune.
Sherry: Amontillado, Oloroso, Amoroso and Montilla.
Port: Unlike other wines. Port is classified solely by char
acter, viz.: Vintage (the wine of any one year); Tawny (a blend
of different years), and Ruby (a blend of 13 different vintage
years). Its sole guaranty of quality is therefore the label of
the maker.
Any responsible dealer will readily recognize known brands
and either be able to supply some of them or to honestly point
out the California prototype, which in most instances will prove
highly satisfactory. As a final word, trust your dealer as you
would your doctor or lawyer; rely upon his judgment and you
cannot go far wrong.
