‘It was fascinating to hear how much
Teddies has changed as a school in the
conversations I had. Yet even for OSE
who left the school many years ago, their
house spirit has remained. As a pupil I feel
extremely thankful for the difference the
donations will make to life here at Teddies,
be it on the sports fields, in the music or
design technology departments, or within
the school community.’
Carolina Rimoldi, D, Upper Sixth
‘We felt driven to talk about all the projects
but specifically the Bursary fund. This is
because as pupils past and present we had
been able to witness personally the positive
effect bursaries can have on our peers and,
in a few cases, ourselves. Our job was made
a lot easier thanks to the personable nature
of those who were happy to speak with us,
and the genuine warmth and enthusiasm so
many had for their old school. We would
like to thank those who received a call from
us for being so patient and friendly.’
Henry Johnson (B, 2011-2016)
Last summer’s telephone campaign proved
that when many OSE come together to
support St Edward’s, they can make a
significant difference.
Just after Gaudy in July, a group of
enthusiastic sixth formers and recent leavers
came back to School to take part in our
telephone campaign to OSE. The purpose
was to deepen the relationship between
pupils and alumni, hear your news, and raise
funds for the School. After speaking with
over 600 OSE over a two week period,
a fantastic £70,000 was pledged. This will
go towards funding Bursaries and meeting
specific needs that will have a direct impact
on pupils in the areas of music, sport and
design technology.
Many of you spoke with our recent
leavers and pupils and inspired them with
career advice and stories of your time at
Teddies. Thank you to all those who lent
their support to the campaign, for which
we are truly grateful. It is testament to the
loyalty Teddies engenders, and is essential
to the School’s future.
Our callers were fascinated and
delighted to hear some wonderful
anecdotes that illustrated the vibrancy
and joviality of the school, such as when
the 1st XV rugby team carryed a Master’s
Mini up the Work Block stairs. We remain
hopeful that these stories have not spread
enough amongst current pupils as to
inspire them with new ideas; nonetheless
if you have any stories you would like to
share with the OSE office we would love
to hear from you!
The funds raised have been allocated to
long-lasting items including a new cricket
nets system, a transacoustic piano and an
advanced machine for making products
in Design Technology. This means that
donations will make an impact on the
School for years to come, effecting
generations of pupils.

Keeping you up to date
We want to ensure that we are giving you news and information
that you are most interested in. Look out for our OSE survey in
July when you will have an opportunity to feed back to us how
you would like to hear from Teddies and how we can continue to
develop events and activities to bring as many OSE in touch with
each other as possible.
