aqueous cleaning.

Mechanical systems with textile materials,

such as the cost-e ective and exible

wiper primary wire wipe (PWW) are

suitable for the reduction of drawing

residues and loosely adhering particles as

well as for the application of liquids.

Systems equipped with rotary brushes

(DRB-WCS), for both dry and uid assisted

cleaning,

complement

the

options

for optimising the surface quality of

wires, cables and pipes. Welding wire

manufacturers will nd, besides the

in-line cleaning after the drawing process,

systems for coating with welding wire

nish and test systems for nal quality

inspection of welding characteristics. The

KFP-V system for the removal of misprints

on any at or round cable insulation in

continuous operation at line speeds of

about 50m/min will be of interest to cable

manufacturers.

Furthermore, producers of tubes will

nd a visit worthwhile. Manufacturers of

tubes or tube products for the aerospace

industry, energy and automotive industry,

OCTG, building and construction or

medical applications can achieve cleaning

results of the outer and – depending on

the form, diameter and length – inner

surfaces, with custom-tailored solutions in

both the continuous in-line operations as

well as for nished products.

A wide assortment of accessories

supplements the product range. In

particular, these include powerful and

economical air wipes for the drying of

wire, cable, strip, ats and other pro les

even at high line speeds. For a variety

of cleaning operations, inverted spiral

brushes are recommended. The brushes

are available in a broad range of sizes with

a variety of synthetic and metal laments.

Gimax

Stand: 10B17

Gimax has redesigned its wet drawing

equipment,

and

the

traditional

“submerged” drawing tank has evolved

into the TRS range of non-slip wet drawing

units with independently driven vertical

capstans, thus combining most of the

bene ts of a dry drawing line with a wet

one.

The result is an example of advanced

technology available in wire drawing.

The TRS is a “spray” type wet drawbench,

where the lubricant is sprayed onto the die

and die box and onto the capstan.

This range is suitable for both ferrous

and non-ferrous wires, and its reduced

footprint, easily accessible parts and

components not only o er cost savings in

terms of oorspace and labour (operation

and maintenance), but are an important

aid

in

decreasing

downtime

and

consequently increasing productivity.

High productivity and a better nal

wire quality coupled with features such

as perfect alignment of wire between

die and capstan as well as low energy

consumption due to electronic control of

motor and line operation go to ensure an

advanced drawing solution.

The main features are:

Reduced die and capstan wear

Mechanical line speed reaches 33

metres/second

Fixed or rotating dies

Rotating

die

speed

varies

in

proportion to line speed

Each block can be bypassed

Synchronisation by means of dancer

arm

Input wire diameter starts at 2mm

(steel wire) or 3mm with aluminium

wire

With 38 years of experience in welding

wire machinery and with the speci c

experience of Gimax engineers in the

production of wire, consequently with

an excellent knowledge of the entire

process of wire manufacturing, the

redesign also led to the introduction of

a range of TRD dry drawing equipment,

available with vertically or horizontally

mounted capstans – non-slip (with

independently driven capstans), tilted

horizontal

capstans,

rotating

dies,

water-cooled capstans, etc. The capstan

diameter can vary from 300mm up to

1,200mm depending on the application

and diameter of wire, and can reach a line

speed of 35 metres/second.
