This year is a special one for FIB Belgium
– it is celebrating its 80
th
anniversary.
Since 1936 the company has designed
complete solutions for thermal and
surface treatment of steel wires, rods and
narrow strips, and has now extended its
competencies in heat treatment lines for
batch galvanising as well.
The main production includes:
•
Wire and packaging strip heat
treatment lines – batch annealing
•
Annealing or patenting furnaces for
steel wires, rods and narrow strips
•
Phosphating, galvanising and ZnAl
coating lines, for steel wires, rods and
narrow strips, including the automatic
control system of zinc coating
•
Oil tempering lines for spring wire
•
Mu e tube annealers for stainless
steel wire
•
Batch annealing solutions for steel
wire, with bell and pit furnaces with
possibility to use nitrogen or hydrogen
in a batch range of 2 to 75 tons
Batch hot dip galvanising plant and
equipment is the new business segment
in which FIB o ers complete general
galvanising turnkey customised solutions
focusing on zinc consumption reduction
and optimised logistics.
FIB will present technology to improve the
corrosion resistance of galvanised coatings
and being able to colourise galvanised/
galfanised products. O -line galfanising
technology and new technologies in
galvanising will also be presented.

Stand: 09E52
Fil-Tec o ers a complete line of
performance yarns for application in
power cables, copper and bre optic
telecom and speciality cables.
Products on display include: Binder yarns
with water blocking, non-wicking, ame
retardant/low smoke nishes; core yarns;
ripcords; ller yarns; marker yarns; and
breglass reinforcement yarns.
Its newest products include:
•
Dry core yarn for dry core cable
designs
•
Virtually dustless water blocking
binder yarns for high speed
•
New line of water blocking yarns for
power cable applications
Fil-Tec’s water swellable binder and core
(wrap around the FRP) yarns o er the
following bene ts:
•
Very low dust, extends life of bearings
and other moving parts of the
equipment
•
Less downtime due to mechanical
maintenance related to SAP dust
problems
•
Less clean up time
•
Cleaner working environment for the
operator
The company’s technology produces a
water swellable binder with higher yield,
meaning lower cost per kilometre of cable
produced. It also produces a package that
o ers:
•
Excellent integrity and balance
•
Can run at 5,000 rpm without
unwanted vibration
•
More metres per package, meaning
longer runs without a break and a
more e cient stranding process
overall
Fil-Tec also o er various swell factors,
a ording design engineers the exibility
to choose the size yarn and swell factor
that best suits the cable.

Flymca continues to o er its well-known
range of machines with customised
solutions for stranding and cabling
purposes.
Standard machinery is adapted to
customers’ needs, thanks to many years’
experience of the workforce, and using the
available facilities to study projects with
3D designs and nite elements. This is all
done with modern CNC machinery for
parts fabrication, and a well-prepared test
laboratory.
Last year ended with new growth thanks
to special machinery for stranding CTC
(continuous transposed conductors) and
big closers for steel wire ropes, together
with new cable manufacturing plants
established in North Africa.
Although a new year means new
challenges, the company already has
a full capacity of orders for 2016, and
investment in the business continues.
Customers can also nd a large stock of
related used and refurbished equipment
from sister company Flyro.
