Some series are a breezy watch, while others require

complete attention. When darkly comedic hacker drama

Mr. Robot

arrived it almost defined that latter camp, and

things don’t let up for a moment in this second season.

Having discovered the secret of Elliot and Mr. Robot,

and with fsociety’s ‘Phase One’ having brought down

the online side of E(vil) Corp, it’s time for the intrigue

to deepen – and the fallout of that Five/Nine hack to

hit. While Elliott struggles with Mr. Robot, there’s more

focus on events surrounding Darlene and Angela – along

with the ‘Phase Two’ manoeuvrings of the Dark Army... One of

Mr.

Robot

’s biggest aces is how it has you constantly questioning what’s

real and what’s not. This dynamic is still very much at play in season

two, so be prepared to pay close attention.

we left our agents, a load of

terrigen crystals had fallen into

the ocean, resulting in tainted

seemingly ordinary people

to develop Inhuman powers.

Daisy’s (Quake/Skye/how many

names does one girl need?) duty

is to find the ‘lucky’ few with

gifts and recruit them before

they are killed by an apoplectic

Inhuman. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s initial

baby deer-footing finally found

its stride last season, and the

series has become even more

compelling with this insanely

super-powered installment.

After a bumpy start, Robert Rodriguez's Mesoamerican

vampire series takes flight in the third and most

satisfying season

The destruction of the Titty Twister

at the end of season two unleashes new horrors,

while the Gecko brothers (D.J. Catrona and Zane Holtz)

become protectors to the remaining culebra Lords,

who are being hunted by a powerful new enemy

hellbent on their destruction. There's less of Santanico

Pandemonium (Eiza Gonzalez) this time around, and

no Danny Trejo. But Catrona and Holtz remain an

entertaining double act and this season is crawling with monsters,

which is a good thing; the show is always at its best when capturing

the gory mayhem of its grindhouse inspiration. No word as yet as to

whether the series has been renewed for a fourth season.

Stepping away from the high-

rise streets of New York,

Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell)

swaps her ruby hat for scarlet

sunglasses and relocates to

sunny Los Angeles. The case

that warranted her move

involves investigating how

a murder victim was found

embedded in a frozen lake

during a heatwave. How odd

and otherworldly that sounds…

One part noir and two parts

crime drama, this season

continues the thrilling Carter/

Jarvis heroics that made us love

Agent Carter

in the first place,

while introducing a Big Bad that

the previous season lacked. An

exhilarating season, it’s a shame

it marks Carter’s last.

As the movie-trilog

y-turned-TV-

series hits its third season, we’ve

learned a lot. Most importantly,

we’ve observed that being a

librarian isn’t necessarily as

boring – or as safe – as we may

have suspected. There’s no

respite for artefact looker-afterer

team, either, having dealt with

Prospero’s techno-fear at the end

of season two. Their adventures

amidst these 10 episodes include
