securing large cable contracts because
the aluminium sheath is ‘seamless’ (no
weld) and the material costs are very
low (standard aluminium rod instead of
expensive aluminium sheets). This is a
UK manufactured machine, speci cally
designed for the HV cable industry but
can be used for other applications. Cable
samples and a large screen production
video can be seen at the exhibition stand.
BWE continues to manufacture and supply
a complete range of cold welders and
dies for a fast, cost-e ective and reliable
solution to welding non-ferrous materials
from ne wire to round rod.
Conform and Conklad machines machines
are assembled at BWE Shanghai Ltd under
UK supervision and inspection. Once in
the UK, the assembled machine is tted
with a European main motor and gearbox.
Final test, inspection and CE certi cation
is provided in the UK. Commissioning,
training and technical support is also
carried out from the UK.
™ Conform, Conklad and SheathEx are
registered trade marks of BWE Ltd.

Caballé
Stand: 11G65
With over 70 years of experience in the
design and manufacture of rotating
machinery for the production of power
and telecommunication cables as well
as steel ropes, the Spanish company
CM Caballé provides the cable industry
with a wide array of stranding, twinning,
bunching and cabling machinery.
The rm is constantly developing new,
high quality equipment to meet the
ever-changing needs of the wire and
cable industry.
The company’s portfolio includes the
following equipment for:
Power cables: double twist stranders,
rigid stranders, drum twisters, single
twist stranders, bow skip stranders,
tubular stranders, planetary stranders
and SZ stranders
Telecom and LAN cables: double
twist
pairing-quadding
machines,
single twist cabling lines, group
twinners, drum twisters, shielding-jelly
lling-sheathing lines, and SZ stranders
Steel ropes: double twist stranders,
tubular stranders, planetary stranders,
and bow skip stranders
Ancillary equipment: pay-o s, take-
ups, capstans, caterpillars, taping
machines, and binders
Caballé will be exhibiting a new “bullhead”
tubular strander for 32 bobbins DIN 500
and one bobbin DIN 1600 for the core
production of OPGW cables. This machine
is presented as an alternative to the
classical planetary or tubular stranders.
Caballé has solved the drawbacks of both
machines by adding what is called “Bull-
Head-Feeder”.
This is a system integrated at the end of
the tubular strander that consists of a big
pay-o with some bows that turn around
it and convey the wires coming from the
tubular to the closing point.
