This year we raised £708 in aid of
Children in Need. We would like to thank
everyone who came in to school in non
school uniform and contributed to the
donation.
Open Evening 2016
Open Events: The
Biggest and the
Best Yet!
Once again Regents Park opened
its doors to welcome parents and
prospective students. A range
of open events took place from
our biggest and best yet, open
evening, guided tours during
the school day and our popular
Saturday taster sessions.
Open Evening was a huge success,
with hundreds of attendees.
Highlights included the science
department’s methane fire
bubbles and screaming jelly-
babies, the polo tournament in
our pool, MFL’s Café Bable, the
Victorian Crime Scene created by
history, the ever-popular Kung
Fu Punctuation in English and
much, much more. The evening
was supported by over 150 of
our own students – a testament
to the pride they have for their
school.
One October Saturday morning,
when they could have been out
playing, over 50 Year 5 and 6
students chose instead to come
to school! They participated in
taster sessions, where they got
a chance to learn the Regents
Park way. ‘Lessons’ included
making Pop Art, uni-hoc in PE,
ordering ice-creams in Spanish,
dilemmas in RE, the spaghetti
challenge in science and using
ICT for calculations. Parents, who
were unable to make the Open
Evening, were given guided tours
by the headteacher.
Finally, we are always proud to
show off the school during the
working day. This year a record
number of parents took us up
on the offer to visit, getting the
opportunity to view our facilities
but more importantly experience
our learning culture and see our
students in action!
Feedback from parents and Year
5 and 6 students about all our
open events was overwhelmingly
positive and we look forward
to welcoming many of them to
Regents Park Community College
next academic year.
