You should eat a little more vegetables than fruit each day, but it’s still important that you eat some of each.

with a food group. The size of the sections shows you how much of each food group you

should eat.

On the left half of the plate are fruits and vegetables. If you divided your plate into

four sections, each section would be about one quarter of your plate. A little bit more than

one-quarter should be vegetables. A little bit less than one-quarter should be fruits. Fruits

are red and vegetables are green. The vegetable section is a little bit bigger than the fruit

section. That tells you that you should eat slightly more vegetables than fruits.

On the other half of the plate are grains and protein. Grains are orange, and protein

is purple. One-quarter of your plate should be grains, and the last quarter of your plate

should be protein.

Up in the corner is a blue circle section labeled dairy. It shows you a glass of milk. The

plate and the glass together show all five food groups.
