This year, the members of Frenchman's Creek marked the 24th annual members art exhibit with a show
and dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, January 20th and 21
st
. The show lasted until Tuesday, January
24th.
Art Expo 2017 named, ARTrageous, A Night of Art and Music. The artwork of our residents, staff and 15
children, 65 in number and many of them new, presented works of art that included painting, sculpture,
needlework, pottery, wood turning, photography, ship building, knitting, jewelry, and wall hangings. This
work was exhibited in a gallery with clever panels, wonderful lighting that was magically created in our
living and bar rooms by our hardworking engineers and the curator responsible for the show was once
again, the talented Kelly Luchini. Our chairman is the tireless Barry Fenner.
There was an open bar and an exquisite gourmet dinner prepared by our executive chef, Bernd, and his
staff. The Euphoria Orchestra played for everyone’s dancing pleasure. In addition, on Tuesday evening
there was a complimentary Art Lecture given by Dr. Joan Lipton of FAU.
Altogether there were 220 paintings. Assisting, the Chairman were Ruth Amiel and Joan Gelch and their
energetic committee. This was the first year that our young children members were represented and they
were the hit of the show!
This has become one of the most anticipated and enjoyed events of our season. Norma writes that so often
she has heard people remark how creative so many of our members are and how interesting it is to learn
about their talents. Many of the artists were interviewed by Norma and their comments concerning their
work has been appearing on Channel 999, our FCTV channel. Especially watch for our young children’s
comments!
