Rafter ships weld box
RAFTER Equipment Corporation has
shipped a RT-7000 weld squeeze
box for a major North American API
pipe producer. The box is part of an
upgrade to the customer’s existing HFI
pipe mill. It is sized for up to 273.1mm
OD x 12.7mm wall (10.75" x 0.5")
HSLA steel pipe.
The design includes motorised push-
on-centre squeeze roll adjustments,
linear displacement transducers, high-
capacity tapered roller bearings within
the roll tools, and central lubrication
piping.
Rafter manufactures tube mills, pipe
mills, roll forming machines, cut-off
machines, auxiliary and other related
tube and pipe mill machinery. Additional
services include rebuilding and
upgrading mill equipment.

wall thickness pipe
MYUNG Jin Machinery delivered its first
ERW pipe mill line for producing pipe
with heavy wall thickness, particularly
for high precision automotive products,
to one of its customers in 2012. With
annual production capacity up to
47,000 tons, the new plant has been
producing tubes from 27.2 to 60.3mm
diameter, and wall thickness from 5.5
to 11.2mm.
As a second project, Myung Jin has
been awarded a contract for the supply
of a high performance pipe mill line
for producing pipe of OD 101.6mm
and wall thickness of 12.7mm, from
pipe manufacturer Seah Steel, for its
requirement of API pipes.
Based on the high durability of each
stand and shaft, the double edge
forming system enables the mill line to
produce pipes with heavy wall thickness
of sch. 140. The complete line will be
supplied along with finishing equipment
such as straightening machine, end
facing and chamfering machine, and
hydrostatic tester.

tube rolling
ESCOFIER is a specialist in cold rolling
profiles onmechanical parts dedicated to
the automobile market. The company’s
knowledge of this technology and its
associated machines are well known
by major OEMs forming threads and
splines on shafts utilised in gearboxes
and transmission systems.
As a result of its long experience,
and having successfully developed its
Flex Quatroll, a cold rolling machine
dedicated to thin wall stainless tubes
with low fins capable of working from 5
to 6m per minute, the Escofier product
line has now been expanded with the
launch of the new three-shaft Triroll
series machines, specially adapted
for rolling finned tubes utilised in heat
exchangers.
Designed to cold roll fins on steel,
copper or even aluminium tubes from 10
to 80mm in diameter, the three numeric
axes supplied on the base version, and
the various options available, assure a
simple use of the Triroll. For example,
the machine is able to stop and recover
the finning process on applications such
as bent tubing.
The fully electric Triroll machine is
available in two sizes, and with a range
of options, offering the same modular
concept as the Flex series.
Escofier process engineering teams
have contributed to offer, along with
the Triroll machine, an optimal disk
assembly concept, assuring higher
quality and tool life. The specific design
and development allows aluminium tube
manufacturers the opportunity of saving
up to 8 per cent of the material cost by
increasing the fin depth.
