Intelligent incremental encoders with
display and IO-Link
The magnetic sensing principle provides the accuracy of pho-
toelectric encoders and the robustness of magnetic systems.
Resolution and signal level can be programmed, 1 – 10 000
pulses per revolution.The encoders have a wide voltage range
of 4,5...30 Vdc available in 6, 10, 12 mm solid or hollow shaft and
are therefore suited for universal use. Performance Line encod-
ers have an integrated signal evaluation for speed monitoring,
counter functions and detection of the direction of rotation.The
encoders provide easy setting, position indication and simple
diagnostics by means of display, operating keys and intuitive
menu navigation. Diagnostic and parameter data are reliably
transferred via IO-Link. Ready for Industry 4.0.
New camera system for
mobile machines
The O3M250 is the first 3D sensor system with integrated 2D
camera for the output of a calibrated video image. In this context,
calibrated means that the 2D image is superimposed on the 3D
image.The camera system has been designed for system inte-
grators and customers who intend to use 3D sensor data with
their own algorithms in an external process unit.The image is
sent as a PAL video image and the 3D point cloud is transmitted
via Ethernet UDP.

The 3D smart camera is the first 3D sensor system with inte-
grated 2D camera.The video image is displayed with real-time
graphics, symbols or texts. They are either triggered by the
integrated driver assistance systemor by the machine controller
via CAN.Thus, the user can always see all relevant warnings or
other relevant details in the camera image.
In addition to the 3D and 2D image sensor a complete evalua-
tion system is integrated in the sensor system.This system pro-
vides an independent assistance system for collision avoidance
for the user. Set-up only requires just a few steps using the ifm
Vision Assistant PC software. In addition to the analogue video
output the smart camera also features a CAN and Ethernet UDP
interface.The system can use this interface to supply warnings
in critical situations autonomously.
Real-time clock with CAN Interface
The exact system time is an important function for many mobile
applications. While in large and complex machines this task is
often fulfilled by the central display, up to now, there was no
affordable solution for mobile applications when it came to
small and compact machines.
In its compact automotive relay housing, the CANrtc real-time
clock can offer this functionality. Its parameters can be set via
the CAN bus while it provides the current time and date. Via an
integrated alarm output, it is possible to execute functions such
as starting the machine controller.
For the CANrtc, a software library of the CODESYS software
is available that is compatible with IEC61131-3. This makes it
particularly easy to quickly implement the application software.
