New transmission line
Beginning in May, PPL Electric Utilities will install a
2.2-mile underground transmission line in Carlisle,
Pennsylvania. The project will extend from a
substation on North Spring Garden Street to a
West Carlisle substation off Route 641.
PPL spokesman James Nulton said construction
would take about a year. The project will cost
about $14 million in 2013 and an additional $5
million in 2014 for a total project cost of $19 million.
PPL expects to spend about $1 billion during
2013 in transmission and distribution infrastructure
improvements. Overall, the company anticipates
investing $3.8 billion in these projects up to 2016.
