Shenzhen Woer Heat-Shrinkable Material

Co Ltd is to buy the Asian consumer

electronics assets of American cable

maker Belden Inc. The acquisition

of Belden's Hong Kong-based LTK

International subsidiary will give Shenzhen

Woer substantial additionalmanufacturing

capacity in China. It is also designed,

company officials said, to expand its

presence in the electronics industry and

speed development of environmentally

oriented cross-linked materials.

Woer products include cross-linked

polyethylene wires, heat shrinkable tubing

and materials, poly-tetrafluoroethylene

tubing and EPDM elastomer tubing.

Belden bought LTK in 2007 for $195 million.

At the time, Belden said LTK had 2006

annual sales of about $220 million. Belden

says the Woer deal involves only a part of

the original LTK purchase in 2007.

LTK has four manufacturing plants in China

and makes products such as PVC and TPE

jacketed cables for data, transmission

and automotive applications.

Kobe Steel’s joint venture, Kobelco Spring

Wire (Foshan) Co Ltd (KSW), has begun

steel wire production in China.

KSW was established in January 2012 in

Foshan,GuangdongProvincetoproduce

and sell steel wire for high-quality springs.

The company has a production capacity

of 600 metric tons per month. KSW is 50

percent owned by Kobe Steel through its

subsidiary Kobelco Holding (China) Co

Ltd, with Shinko Wire Company Ltd and

Suncall Corporation each having a 25

percent equity share.

Kobe Steel is said to have approximately

50 percent share of the world market

for steel wire rod, the base material for

steel wire. Booming demand in China led

Kobe Steel to form KSW, its first overseas

company to process wire rod into wire

for use in engine valve springs and other

spring products.

Kobe Steel already has two companies

in Thailand, one in the United States, and

three in China that process steel wire rod

for suspension springs and CHQ (cold

heading quality) wire rod for fasteners.
