(Dewa) has signed a contract to supply,
extend and activate a new 132kV
underground transmission cable network
to redistribute the electricity load.
“The Dewa is moving forward in the
implementation
of
vital
projects,
especially 132kV electricity transmission
networks. This is to improve the efficiency
of our networks, meet the growth and
demand for services, especially in the field
of infrastructure, and enhance access
to these services to the highest levels of
efficiency and reliability,” said Dewa MD

The project has three phases with the first
phase focusedonmodifying loads in132kV
electricity transmission networks between
Al Quoz and the D Station in Jebel Ali. The
second phase involves transferring cable
loads between the Bu Kadra station and
the 400/132kV substation at the Jebel Ali
racecourse. The last phase is the extension

New Zealand-based photonics equipment
manufacturer Southern Photonics has
announced that it will be rebranding as
Coherent Solutions with effect from 11
th
March 2013.
The rebrand has been prompted by the
company’s development to focus its
product portfolio on coherent solutions
for the photonics test and measurement
instrumentationmarket. Coherent Solutions
will continue to produce specialized
photonic
instrumentation
products
extending past the optical communications
sector into other applications, which
require the generation, characterization
and analysis of optical signals and pulses.
Coherent Solutions will not only be a
provider of OEM solutions, but will still
continue to develop and sell products
under its own brand. This will enable the
company to assess market developments
