There is always something satisfying seeing stories about
the creation of new jobs and investment. So it's with little
wonder that our main story this month concentrates on
Southwire's $95m expansion project in Carroll County,
Georgia.
That investment will lead to a further 375 jobs – in addition
to the 689 already created in Carroll County and Coffee
County over the last two years. It's also fantastic to see the
area's politicians and authorities working in harmony with
the company in a bid to drive the region's economy and
safeguard jobs.
This, it seems, is recognized by all parties concerned with
Southwire president CEO Stu Thorn praising the hometown
of Carrollton, which "has contributed immeasurably to our
success." You can read the full story on page 9.
There's also a large section of this issue devoted to the
IWCS technical symposium and exhibition, which starts on
page 44. For those of you attending the show in Charlotte,
North Carolina, please stop by booth 605 where you can
get your free CD copy of wiredInUSA, and copies of sister
publications EuroWire and Wire & Cable ASIA.
