Younger Members News
Young Members for Europe
With Europe rushing to meet us in
1992, the Younger Members Com-
mittee (YMC) have decided to go
some of the way towards meeting
some of our colleagues in the other
cities of Europe. The equivalent
organisations, such as the Young
Paris Bar (see separate advert), in
other European Countries are hav-
ing their annual con f e r ences
throughout the coming year.
It has been proposed that a
member of the Younger Members
Committee and any other younger
member should travel to the various
conferences in order to get to know
some of our fellow European col-
leagues. Out of funds provided by
the Law Society, the YMC will
make a contribution towards the
traveller's costs. If you are inter-
ested in availing of this opportunity
please write to the Chairman of the
YMC, c/o The Law Soc i e t y,
applying to be considered for a
specific conference according to
the list below.
The selection of " A Younger
Membe r" to travel to a particular
European conference will be based
on the following criteria:-
1. A knowledge of the language of
the State sponsoring the con-
ference would be a definite
advantage. Please state the level
of your proficiency in t hat
language.
2. Evidence of previous involvement
w i th European organisations and
any present involvement in same.
3. Please state the reason why you
wish to avail of the opportunity
t o travel t o t he pa r t i cu l ar
conference.
4. Please submit your ideas on the
issues you feel the YMC should
deal w i th at these conferences
or otherwise.
5. Please also remember that you
will be required to do a report on
the conference upon your return.
People who have not previously
involved t hemse l ves in either
Younger Member activities or
European Oriented activities are
especially invited to submit their
names for travel to one of the
conferences.
Anybody interested in travelling
should write to Sandra Fisher,
Media Officer, The Law Society,
Blackhall Place, Dublin 7, before
Friday 19th April 1991.
