The first half dozen mentioned are often served on
the side with whisky. The small water glass should be
poured only half or two-thirds full. The others are
taken for their own virtues—purity or medicinal in
gredients—and should be served in star champagne-
glasses, and it is generally expected that they be filled
"full up," though best form favors two-thirds full.
Strong mineral waters should never be served on
the side. Chalybeate waters turn alcoholic liquors
dark. The more iron in the water the blacker it makes
the liquor.

buy a hydrometer and out-stick at once.
To ascertain the exact age of straight whisky,read
the serial number of the package which is branded on
the stamp end of same. Should the stamp be defaced,
or in any way become illegible, take the serial number
of the package which is marked on the stamp end of
same with steel die or brand,and write to the collector
of the district in which the whisky was distilled,and he
will give you ^all information.
