Marmon/Keystone opens new
service centre
Marmon/Keystone has announced
the completion of a 105,000ft
2
service
centre, ten miles northeast of downtown
Birmingham, Alabama, USA, at 105
Goodrich Drive.
The facility was completely rebuilt from
the ground up after sustaining severe
damage from an EF3 tornado, which
devastated the area in January 2012. All
operations have been relocated back
to the Goodrich Drive service centre
from a temporary site on Pinson Valley
Parkway without any interruption to
sales, service or delivery.
The office andwarehouse facility features
five overhead cranes, three new Amada
high-speed band saws and a new
DoALL mitre saw. These fully automated
saws will increase productivity and offer
expanded cutting capabilities up to 26"
OD. The building also includes a steel-
reinforced concrete storm shelter.
Marmon/Keystone’s
Birmingham
location serves customers in Alabama,
Louisiana, Mississippi and the majority
of Kentucky and Tennessee. Major
markets include agriculture, automotive,
fabrication and heavy equipment.
“We are extremely grateful to all of our
suppliers and customers; they have
been very supportive over the past year,”
said Mike Gregory, Birmingham branch
manager. “The assistance we received
from our fellow Marmon/Keystone
team members, especially those at
the Atlanta, Houston and Charlotte
locations, enabled us to continue
providing the superior customer service
we are known for at Marmon/Keystone.”
As a wholesale distributor of tubular
products for over 100 years, Marmon/
Keystone inventories more than 15,000
sizes and grades of carbon, alloy,

Location chosen for US seamless pipe mill
Tenaris has announced that it will build
its first US seamless pipe mill in Bay
City, Matagorda County, Texas. With
an estimated investment of US$1.5bn,
the new facility will have an annual
production capacity of 600,000 tons of
seamless pipe.
With its proximity to Houston and to
Tenaris’s North American headquarters,
the location offers a combination of
favourable geography, operational
logistics and availability of a skilled
workforce. “Our new facility will
complement our integrated global
manufacturing network and work
closely with our existing North American
operations to further strengthen
domestic production,” said Paolo
Rocca, chairman and CEO.
“This announcement is only possible
thanks to the hard work of state and local
officials, as well as the area business
community, which always plays a major
role in decisions like this,” commented
Texas governor Rick Perry.
“The most profound statement about
our favourable economic climate comes
when companies like Tenaris make an
investment of this size in our state. That
says that not only is Texas the best
place to grow your business now, but
they’re confident that we’ll remain that
way moving forward.”
An analysis conducted on the economic
impact of Tenaris in Matagorda County
states the company will have a large
direct and indirect influence on the area.
The new plant will generate 600 direct
manufacturing jobs and offer substantial
economic impact in Matagorda County
as well as in the surrounding areas.
“The company’s commitment to the
environment and safety is a top priority,”
said German Cura, the company’s
president in North America. “The facility
is being designed according to the
most stringent environmental and safety
standards, with the implementation of
control technologies that will reduce
our emissions footprint and exceed
state and federal regulations.” The new
facility is expected to begin operations
in 2016.
Tenaris is a manufacturer and supplier
of steel pipe products and related
services for the energy industry and
other industrial applications.
Customers include oil and gas
companies and engineering companies
engaged in constructing oil and gas
gathering, transportation, processing
and power generation facilities.
