ITA terminates 30-year
management contract
Tube Products International
readers
and many long-standing members
of the International Tube Association
(ITA) will know that INTRAS Ltd has
been the management company for the
association for over 30 years, since the
ITA was founded by the late INTRAS
chairman, Mr John C Hogg, in 1979.
However, in February 2012 the current
ITA president, Dr Gunther Voswinckel,
wrote a letter to INTRAS serving
notice to terminate the long-standing
management contract, with effect from
30 September 2012. During the following
months discussions took place between
INTRAS and several ITA officers to try to
implement a ‘replacement’ contract to
restore the relationship. The president
also advised INTRAS that the ITA
would be appointing its own executive
secretary, basing him in an office in
Germany.
These changes were accepted by
INTRAS while the existing contract
ran to its termination. However, during
this time INTRAS became increasingly
aware that the overall direction and
philosophy of the ITA was changing.
During the transfer of management to the
ITA president and executive secretary
in Germany, all membership data was
forwarded to them upon request. At
this time, INTRAS offered to continue
to produce ITAN newsletters for the ITA
and to supply subscriptions of INTRAS
tube magazines
Tube & Pipe Technology
and
Tube Products International
to ITA
members. However, the offer of this
arrangement was declined.
INTRAS has always put the
considerations of the ITA membership at
the highest priority, and because of this
would like to offer existing ITA members
the opportunity to continue to receive
free copies of
Tube & Pipe Technology
magazine or
Tube Products International
magazine in print or digital formats.
