Increasing capacity

Kalpataru Power Transmission has confirmed that its

new facility at Raipur in Chhattisgarh has begun

operations and expanded manufacturing capacity to

over 160,000 tonnes. The new plant has annual

installed capacity of 55,000 metric tonnes of both

fabrication and galvanising processes.

After commissioning of the new plant, KPTL will have

one of the largest power manufacturing capacities in

the country. Company MD Mr Ranjit Singh said: “With

this expansion we would get key competitive

advantages like economies of scale, strategic central

location of the plant and latest technology. These

would help us to achieve our aim of sustained

profitable growth.”

Indian JV begins

transmission

Jhajjar KT Transco, a joint venture company between

Techno Electric and Engineering Company and

Kalpataru Power Transmission, has started its 400kV

power transmission substation at Jhajjar in the Indian

state of Haryana.

Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam awarded the contract

to construct the 400kV intra-state transmission

system in May 2010.

The line runs for 35km from Jharli to Kabulpur in

Rohtak and 64km from Kabulpur to Dipalpur in

Sonepat,

Haryana,

with

sub-stations

of

400/220/132kV at Rohtak and Sonepat.

The transmission network has been designed to

facilitate 2,400MW of electricity and has been in

operation since March 2012.

The $81m public-private-partnership project has

been supported by the central government’s Viability

Gap Funding (VGF).

Advanced design

Pratik Wire Machines is a high-tech manufacturer of
