Indoor ACTION
Maine’s not just a great place for outdoor adventure—if the
weather’s got you figuratively climbing the wall, you may want
to try that out for real.
People of all ages and abilities are
challenging themselves through climb-
ing in the non-intimidating, inspiring
environment at Evo Rock & Fitness.
With 16,000 square feet of modern,
indoor climbing surfaces, there is some-
thing for everyone at all levels of ability.
Featured walls include speed climbing
and bouldering walls. You can also
exercise without climbing at Evo, which
boasts a gymwith cross training equip-
ment, cardio machines, free weights,
and a multipurpose room for yoga,
Pilates, and other exercise classes.
Designed for speed and competition,
Maine Indoor Karting is the fastest,
most thrilling formula karting near
Portland. With helmets secured and
karts adjusted, each racer sits in an-
ticipation for the green flag signaling
that the race is on. The Maine Indoor
Karting track fills with the roars and
squeals of their European-designed for-
mula karts and the cheers of supporters.
After watching a safety video, racers are
ready for the 1,200 foot state-of-the-art
track, which offers a challenge to all
skill levels. Kids 8-15 years old must take
a safety course before racing. Ladies
night runs Friday 8-11 pm. For family
members too young or less inclined
to race, there’s an arcade, cafe, and an
indoor mini-golf course to keep you
entertained.
Bowling is a tried and true way to keep
active indoors, and there are plenty of
lanes to choose from in Greater Port-
land. Just over the bridge in South
Portland, Easy Day has a full-service
family restaurant, bar, and lounge with
live entertainment, DJs, and special
events. Right downtown, Bayside Bowl
is an intimate alley with a full kitchen
serving lunch and dinner, and an
entertainment stage directly connected
to the bowling area. If you don’t like
to wait you can check out their lanes
forecast online to see how things are
shaping up. Spare Time Entertainment
offers traditional 10-pin bowling as well
as laser tag and a new Game Zone
featuring the latest technical arcade
games. Get your heart pounding with
music, fog, LED lighting, special
effects, and laser guns as you battle it
out in their multi-level arena.
It’s never too cold, too hot, too rainy for
some indoor action; see website,
address, and phone numbers under
sports & recreation listings,
pgs. 26-27.
