S
hane de Beer, Director of KBAC
Flooring says that 1 025m²
of colourful flooring was
specified for the new offices
as well as at the software
development and holding
company, Korbitec.
G r a n t J o h n s o n
of Conduit Interiors
worked closely with
KBAC Flooring on the
project on design specifi-
cations, creating interesting
shapes and patterns. KBAC also
provided Interface Colour Me bright
coloured carpet tiles as inlays in the
entrance area, vinyl wooden planks
in the canteen and open areas, and
Belgotex Westminster in Property
24’s boardroom.
At Korbitec’s offices, Johnson
opted for a combination of three
colours of Berber Point 920 carpet
tiles to create the striking 3-D design
in the passage. The tiles in the main
Korbitec reception area combines a
customised design of two Interface
Flow colours.
Johnson has worked closely with
KBAC Flooring for many years and
had no hesitation in again opting for
the company’s product range and in-
stallation expertise for this upmarket
project.
He says that his brief called for
new head office space that reflected
the company’s ‘fresh, energetic, dot-
com brand, while still maintaining
the highest level of practical func-
tionality’.
“Conduit Interior delivered on the
brief by playfully juxtaposing tradi-
tional property elements against a
colourful modern interior, constantly
ensuring that the client’s operational
brief was met and that best practices
were implemented,” he explained.
Colourful flooring
KBAC Flooring has supplied and
installed metro sheeting and
Belgotex Berber Point 920 carpet
tiles at the newProperty 24 Head
Office in Rondebosch.

boardroom
was designed as a modern take
on a traditional front room, complete
with a ‘Property24 front door’, a
fire-place shaped audio-visual unit,
glazing vinyls reminiscent of Victorian
balustrades, and framed internet
icons in lieu of family portraits.
“The Property24 developers’ team
rooms were each given their own
character and identity by means of
brightly painted Bo-Kaap styled ter-
race doors - eachwith its own unique,
hand-sourced vintage ironmongery -
along with clusters of street furniture
to create non-corporate break-out
spaces.
“The flooring played an important
part of Conduit Interior’s design
to create a clever design that
stretched the budget al-
lowances as far as pos-
sible. It was a given
that we would install
a specific ‘price brack-
et’ of carpet tile to the
workspace areas, but
we made the decision
that instead of installing
this in plain carpet tiles
throughout, we would use
the opportunity to be playful
with the designs, textures and pat-
terns, thereby building on the prop-
erty related theme. KBAC Flooring’s
experienced installers enabled us to
achieve this through skilful cutting
and installation of tricky patterns.”
“Conduit Interior was given virtual
free reins by the client for the interior
designof the newpremiseswithin the
confines of the budget. Property24’s
main concernwas that the new space
would embody what Property24 is -
and what it does’,” Johnson added.
