GA contributed to the publication World Resources Report 2008:

Roots of Resilience - Growing the Wealth of the Poor

.

The

publication describes a path for how sustainable, nature-based

enterprise can help the world’s 2 billion rural poor escape the cycle

of poverty. The World Resources Report is the work of a continuing

partnership between the United Nations Development Programme

(UNDP), UNEP, the World Bank and the World Resources Institute.

GA has been involved in this work, both through its direct

contributions of materials as well as support of outreach efforts to

ensure that the findings of the report reach broad and appropriate

audiences.

Polar View: Earth Observation Services for Climate Change Adaptation

GA wrote and produced a booklet on uses of satellite-based

monitoring in adapting to climate change in regions influenced by ice

and snow. This booklet includes case studies on climate change

adaptation in marine navigation in ice-infested waters, flood

preparedness, hydroelectric generation, and sustaining Arctic

indigenous communities. The booklet was produced using examples

from Polar View, a consortium of public and private sector Earth

Observation service providers working through the Global

Monitoring for Environment and Security initiative supported by the

European Space Agency and a contributor to the Nairobi Work

Programme on Climate Change Adaptation. The booklet was

released at the UNFCCC Climate Change COP 14 in Poznan,

Poland in December.
