THE WILSON PICKERS
You Can’t Catch Fish From
ATrain
The Wilson Pickers are a collective of five
individually talented singers, songwriters and
players who came together in this side-project
back in 2009.
You Can’t Catch Fish From A
Train
sees them check in for album number
three, and their third ARIA nomination. Armed
with bluegrass instrumentation and five-
voice harmony, they aren’t quite a traditional
bluegrass band but more an all-star pickin’,
singin’ good time. From upbeat, driving rhythms
with perfectly picked precision, they take turns
singing their stories of life’s dealings. Recorded
in the round at Church Farm Studios in New
South Wales in three days, this album proves
they remain a brilliant musical union.

KRISTA POLVERE
Krista Polvere
Easy to mistake for a true American folk
songstress, this twangin’-with-attitude chick
is pure homemade Australian talent. Breaking
into music from Melbourne and having already
released the excellent
Devil In Me
EP, Polvere
is no longer at trotting pace; with a kick of
her heel and a strum of her guitar, she is now
galloping full speed toward wide notoriety
with one gosh darn fine-looking album. Each
song on the self-titled album holds a fierce
rumbling power, and Polvere rides it beautifully
with her mare’s heart on her sleeve. Lavish
arrangements as in the strapping
Father
and
the mournful
Joe
have Polvere pushing to the
head of the pack, and leaving others eating her
dust.
