S
tuck for that
special gift for the
quality control
freak in your life? Or
maybe you've recently
upgraded to a 4K UHD TV
and 4K Blu-ray player and
are looking to get the most
out of the enhanced
resolution. Look no further
than your nearest JB Hi-Fi
stores, who continue to
keep the pace with cutting
edge audio and video
technology. The range of
titles in the 4K UHD format
has grown exponentially
since the format's launch
earlier this year, with many
brand new blockbusters
now being released
simultaneously with
their Blu-ray
counterparts.
Moreover, the range of
back catalogue titles is also
expanding.
The Hunger
Games
franchise is coming
to 4K on December 7,
along with Martin
Scorsese's gangster
classic
Goodfellas
. And if
you've already picked up
Jason Bourne
on 4K, you
can now add the other
three Damon films –
The
Bourne Identity,
The
Bourne Supremacy
and
The Bourne Ultimatum
–
to your collection.
The candy colours of
Suicide Squad
will truly
pop in 4K, and animated hit
The Secret Life of Pets
will have your dogs
howling with delight. And
let's not forget the
magnificent Wild West
hues of
The Magnificent
Seven
, or the currently
available 4K titles that are
considered demo material:
The Revenant
,
Mad Max:
Fury Road
and
Deadpool
.
There's more reason
than ever to get excited
about 4K. If you've yet to
convert to UHD, assume
Santa is in a giving mood
and add that 4K television
you've been coveting
– and a Samsung UBD-
K8500 4K HDR Blu-ray
Player while you're at it
– to your Christmas wish-
list. It never hurts to ask
and you might just find
a big 65-inch rectangular
box under the tree. And
if you're already set up
with the hardware and
good to go, you now have
plenty to watch over the
Christmas break.

A black and white
version of
Mad
Max: Fury Road
will be released
on Blu-ray on Dec
7. Yes, you read
that correctly.
Director George
Miller has made no secret
of his preference for a monochrome
version of his action masterpiece,
calling the 'Black and Chrome'
alternative "the best version of the
movie." For a film bursting with
vibrant desert colours that truly push
the pixels of your HD screen,
Fury
Road
in black and white might not
sound like a great idea, but it could
work! And who are we to argue with
Miller's vision? (He's not the first
filmmaker to favour an alternate b&w
version: Frank Darabont prefers
The
Mist
that way, too.) The
Fury Road
Blu-ray will include both colour and
Black and Chrome versions, plus a
new intro from Miller.
FURY ROAD:
BLACK & CHROME
I
f you felt like there was
something missing from the
theatrical version of
Suicide
Squad
, there was – approximately 13
minutes, actually. This previously
unseen footage has now been
restored to the film and the Blu-ray
edition is where you'll find the
Extended Cut
, which features a bit
more Joker and Harley Quinn, a
longer introduction to Killer Croc, and
Harley's psychoanalysis of the Squad
(she was an Arkham Asylum doctor,
remember).
This makes picking up a HD copy
of the DC Comics' blockbuster a
no brainer (the Theatrical Cut is
also included) – now you only need
to decide which edition to go for.
Exclusive to JB Hi-Fi while stocks last
are the
Limited Edition Steelbook
and a
Deluxe Edition
that includes a
Hardcover Graphic Novel
. There's also
a
Limited Edition 64-Page Digibook
available, and if it's just the movie and
extras you want, not all the bells and
whistles, a 2-disc set (including both
cuts) has you covered.
As well as the Extended Cut, bonus
features you'll only find on the Blu-ray
include:
Task Force X: One Team, One
Mission
;
Chasing the Real
;
Joker &
Harley: "It" Couple of the Underworld
;
Squad Strength and Skills
;
Armed to
the Teeth
;
This Is Gonna Get Loud: The
Epic Battles of Suicide Squad
; and
The
Squad Declassified
