Applications under Sections 16 and 18
ONE application from a Law Clerk seeking to be
bound as an apprentice for a term of three years
only under Section 16, was considered on a report
from the Court of Examiners and granted.
Two
applications under Section
18
seeking
exemption from the Preliminary Examination were
considered on a report from the Court of Examiners,
and it was decided not to oppose the applications.
Legal Education
THE COUNCIL considered a report from the Legal
Education Committee -suggesting certain amend
ments to be made in the Draft Solicitors Bill with
a view to securing greater flexibility in the system
of legal education. The report was adopted, and
the Secretary was directed to submit a copy of
the suggested amendments to the Department of
Justice.
Applications under Section 47
ONE application from a solicitor for permission
to take out his practising certificate under Section
47 was considered and' granted on payment of the
current licence duty.
