Safety is the name of the game for
FS Cables, the official distributor of the
Draka Firetuf range of data and coax
cables, which have passed the require-
ments of LUL standard 2-01001-002.
The LUL engineering standard is both
stringent in its testing and internationally
recognised as a benchmark for fire safety.
The LUL standard comprises tests for
flammability to BS4066: Part 3, smoke
emission to BS EN 50268 and toxic fume
emissions.
In addition, both cables have met fire
resistance BS EN 50200:2000 and BS8434-
2:2003 and achieved the required
performance of class PH120 and 120
minutes survival time when tested to
BS8434-2 for FR enhanced cables.
The results demonstrate the Draka Firetuf
data and coax cables ability for continued
functionality in the event of fire and
‘rubber stamps’ them as the ideal cables
for digital signalling and CCTV in tunnel
and train station applications.
The Firetuf data range has also proved to
be the cables of choice in many public
buildings for BMS applications and critical
communication systems where mass
emergency evacuation is required.
The low smoke Halogen free materials,
combined with the highest level of fire
resistance, provide unrivalled safety
performance.
