Semi-closed cell
industrial tape
Pres-On, a manufacturer of advanced
adhesive products, has introduced
a semi-closed cell crushed EPDM/
EPT industrial tape that combines the
flexibility of standard open cell foam
tape with the sealing qualities of closed
cell foam tapes. P9400 is an extremely
soft, lightweight and compressible
solution for filling joints and spaces,
sealing out damaging dust, wind, water
and noise.
Pres-On P9400 tape is suitable for
sealing HVAC installations, air sealing,
waterproofing, mounting auto trim,
gasketing, thermal insulation and
weather stripping. Because it is soft
and lightweight, P9400 is easy to work
with and compresses without effort,
so it naturally minimises
or completely eliminates
vibration.
Available in a variety of
convenient roll widths,
lengths and thicknesses,
Pres-On P9400 meets
several
automotive
specifications, including
MS-AY550 and TSK6505G-
2A. It can be ordered with
or without an acrylic/rubber
adhesive, and the service
temperature range is 250°F to -67°F.
Pres-On manufactures adhesive
coating, coated foam tape, mounting
substrates, gaskets and cap liners,
serving customers worldwide in the
industrial and consumer markets.

Scanner for inspecting small-bore pipework
Phoenix Inspection Systems has
launched a double-sided version of its
popular Bracelet pipe scanner that can
be used for both TOFD and phased array
inspection. The new Bracelet is suitable
for use on all small-bore pipework,
including carbon steel and stainless
steel, ranging from 0.5" to 6" nominal
pipe size, with a unique design allowing
speedy set-up for all sizes in between.
The Bracelet is supplied single-sided for
pipe-to-fitting inspections and straight
welds, or dual-sided for complete weld
inspection in one scan.
The Bracelet is a lightweight, low-profile
scanner designed to be easy to use. It
fits securely to the pipe by means of the
bracelet mechanism that, together with
the rubber wheels, prevents slippage.
The integrated miniature encoder
running on the surface of the pipe
provides positional feedback.
The scanner can operate in areas of
limited access, with a minimum envelope
of just 13mm (0.5"). It can also be
fed around the pipe past neighbouring
obstructions to provide 360° inspection
when only half the pipe is accessible.
Paul Ryan, sales manager at Phoenix,
said, “Since its launch two years ago,
the Bracelet has become very popular
as a semi-automatic inspection solution
deployed in lieu of radiography. The
original was designed for phased array
inspection of boiler tubes.”
“However, at customers’ request, we
have added a TOFD capability to this
latest version and made it suitable for
a wider range of applications, including
general butt welds. It is now an ideal
solution for all small-bore pipework and
further enhances our range of TOFD
scanners, probes and accessories.”
