The cooperative involvement of the total college faculty and public school practitioners
is built into the planning, administering, and evaluating of the Teacher Education Program.
Teacher licensure candidates who have been admitted to the program are evaluated
continuously in order to maintain eligibility for the program and to assure that teacher
licensure candidates who complete the program meet the highest standards. Teacher
licensure candidates seeking teacher licensure in Virginia major in a liberal arts or science
area and receive either the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
The teacher education programs have been aligned with the Virginia
Standards of
Learning
(SOLs) and have been reviewed and approved by the Virginia State Board of
Education and the Bluefield College liberal arts and education faculty. Bluefield College
offers programs leading to initial teacher licensure in the following endorsement areas at
