In 2013, CO2 emissions from UK offshore oil and gas production contributed three per cent of the total domestic
CO2 emissions27. It is important to consider that the exploration, production and transportation of offshore oil and
gas account for a small percentage of the overall life cycle GHG emissions – approximately nine per cent for oil28
and 16 per cent for gas 29.
