Performance management is an ongoing process through which

an employee’s efficacy in the workplace is both supported and

enhanced for optimal throughput. By adopting a collaborative

approach, management and employees can work together using

such a system to help define and achieve the employee’s goals

and objectives.

“Performance management can have a profound effect on the

success of the business and the intrinsic value it holds for staff,

management, investors and clients. Partnering with iStratgo was

thus an important step for us at LCP Roofing, because we’ve

experienced enormous growth and feel that alignment of strategic

objectives and the management of individual performance are key

to successful growth management,” says Freddy Robertson, LCP

Roofing sales manager.

According to Ishmael Dube, (CEO) at IMD Innovations, parent

company of iStratgo, “In order to best facilitate high performance,

companies need to find out if they are measuring the right things.

There is no use in focusing on sales performance measures when

the real strategic challenge relates specifically to profit margins.”

He goes on to say that, “Secondly, the company must investigate

whether or not the way they measure performance is perceived to

be objective and/or fair enough by their employees. This is of critical

importance, because the performance appraisal process is meant to

motivate staff, not demoralise them.

“Without buy-in from employees, any new system a business

tries to implement will fail due to fear of change. Knowing this, we

implemented the system gradually to allow staff to get used to it

without being intimidated by it,” notes Robertson. “All the iStratgo

software is online browser based, which means that nothing gets

installed either on the server or client side, with the benefit of all the

information being readily available at any time, anywhere,” he says.

Sustainable strategy

The introduction of iStratgo’s performance management system

at LCP Roofing is far less about ticking off a checklist than

implementing a sustainable strategy with well-aligned and

measurable goals. In this way, LCP Roofing will be able to ensure

that the efforts of staff, projects and teams are equipped to direct

their full attention to tasks and activities that create real value for

the company.

“iStratgo has a host of exciting features that help us to meet

all of our balanced scorecard and performance requirements. The

software is based on business fundamentals that are informed

by performance scores validated against the number of years the

employee has spent in the same role,” remarks Robertson. “The

iStratgo system also has a leave management module that allows

an employee to apply for any type of leave on the system, indicating

the number of days they’d like to take off and the reason why. The

manager can then approve or decline the application based on the

proposed reason, making leave application smoother and faster.”

While the iStratgo system was only implemented at LCP Roofing

a few months ago, the company’s performance management

and development has already reaped the rewards. “The system

encourages management to evaluate and re-evaluate all areas of

the business. When revisiting aspects of operation often overlooked,

like productivity or cost-effectiveness of business processes,
