Joseph L. Dundon
Joseph Dundon qualified as a Solicitor in 1962. He was first elected to
the Council of the Society in 1965 and was President in 1977-78. He has
served as Chairman of the Education Committee and is currently
Chairman of the E.E.C. and International Affairs Committee. He has
been a member of the Council of the International Bar Association since
1978 and Chairman of its Membership Committee since 1980. He
obtained an M.B.A. from University College Dublin in 1981. He is
senior partner of O'Donnell Dundon & Co., Limerick. He is married to
Eileen (née Belton) and they have four children. He is interested in
music, painting, sailing and skiing.
Andrew F. Smyth
Andrew F. Smyth was educated at St. Joseph's C.B.S., Marino,
Belvedere College and University College Dublin, and was admitted as a
Solicitor in the Michaelmas Term of 1957. He is Principal of the Firm of
Carter, Smyth & Co. and was Honorary Secretary of the Dublin
Solicitors' Bar Association from 1972 to 1979 and President of the
Association in 1980/81. He was elected to the Council in 1978 and was
Chairman of the Registrar's Committee in the years 1982 and 1983 and
presently serves on the Parliamentary, Professional Purposes and
Disciplinary Committees.
Patrick O'Connor
Patrick O'Connor, a Partner in the Firm of P. O'Connor & Son,
Solicitors, Swinford, County Mayo, is a son of Thomas V. O'Connor,
Solicitor, a Past President of the Society and a grandson of the late
Patrick O'Connor, Solicitor. He was educated at the Swinford National
School and at Glenstal Abbey. Graduating from University College
Dublin with an Honours B.C.L. Degree he was admitted a Solicitor in
1974. A member of the Council of the Law Society since 1978, he has
served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of a number of Ad-Hoc and
Statutory Committees of the Society. He is at present a member of the
Litigation, Parliamentary, Joint Law Clerks, Bar Liaison and Registrars
Committees and is Chairman of the Professional Purposes Committee.
