Attended at Midland Bar Association dinner dance at

Tullamore.

January 18th

Attended luncheon given by Mr. Kieran Condell,

Managing Director, Northern Bank Finance Corporation,

and senior executives of N.B.F.C.

January 20th

Attended Seminar organised by Dublin Solicitors' Bar

Association on office management at Royal Marine

Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, and later attended Galway Bar

Association dinner dance at Ardelaun Hotel, Galway.

January 27th

Represented by Mrs. Moya Quinlan, Junior Vice-

President, at Solicitors' Apprentices' Debating Society

Inaugural meeting in Dublin.

January 28th

Attended Inaugural meeting of the Ordre des Avocats

of the Paris Bar at the Palais de Justice and later dinner

given by the Batonnier of the Paris Bar, Maitre Louis

Petiti and the Council of the Order.

February 2nd

Attended dinner of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland

at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.

February 3rd

Attended a solemn sitting of the Superior Courts at the

Supreme Court to welcome Professor Hans Kutcher,

President of the European Court, and later dinner given

by the Honourable Sodety of the Benchers at the Kings

Inns.

February 3rd

Attended luncheon with Mr. Michael Culligan, General

Manager, Agricultural Credit Corporation, and Mr.

Dermot Jones and Mr. V. Philips.

February 4th

Represented by Mrs. Moya Quinlan, Junior Vice-

President, at the annual dinner of the Institute of Certified

Accountants.

February 11th

Attended annual dinner of the Southern Law

Association at the Metropole Hotel, Cork.

Survay of Solicitors' Earnings, 1977

Copies of the above report, prepared by Coopers &

Lybrand Associates Ltd., on the basis of returns

furnished by 201 firms, are now available from the

Society at a cost of £1.00 plus 0.19p postage.

An application has been made to the Minister for

Industry, Commerce, & Energy, for a further review of

solicitors' earnings on the basis of the information

contained in the report.

UNDERTAKINGS COMMITTEE

Letters of Undertaking in quadriplicate, officially

approved by the Council of the Society, are expected to be

available at the Society's Offices, Blackhall Place, Dublin

7, on 1st May, next. Each series of letters will consist of

recommendations to the undertaking Solicitor, client's

authority and retainer, provisions in respect of the Family

Home Protection Act, 1976, and four copies of each

letter—for the recipient, the deed holder, the file, and the

Central Register of a Solicitor's office, respectively.
