MBER 1978,
SUCCESS OF ONE DAY
COURSES
The first series of one day courses for recently qualified
solicitors concluded with the Commercial Law Course
held on November 22nd. The Society's Education
Committee and Staff were particularly pleased to have as
a guest at the Commercial Law Course Kevin O'Leary,
Director of the Legal Work Shop at Australian National
University at Canberra and a pioneer in Professional
Legal Training Courses.
Analysis of the reports made by each participant in
each of the courses shows a high degree of satisfaction
with the courses. The tutors most of whom will be
participating as consultants or tutors in the Society's new
Professional Course of Training for Apprentices, which
will commence in February next, express themselves as
pleased with the opportunities which the courses gave
them of testing some of their course materials in advance
and of familiarising themselves with the use of audio-
visual apparatus in an actual teaching situation.
While the efforts of the Society's Education
Department in the immediate future will be directed
exclusively to the new Professional Training Course it is
hoped that a further series of one day courses can be
programmed in the not too distant future.
