Dr Julia Starling
– “Supporting upper primary older
school-aged children and adolescents with language and literacy difficulties:
Time for some creative thinking!”
Registration is available for all upcoming workshops. (Get in quickly to avoid disappointment as most
workshops have sold out.)
The two-day Darwin National
Tour workshop
Supporting
older school-aged children
and adolescents with
language and literacy
difficulties: Time for some
creative thinking!
by Dr Julia
Starling ran in Darwin on
Thursday 26 and Friday 27
June 2014.
We were lucky to have a
small group of registrants
with plenty of interaction
throughout the workshop.
We benefitted from Julia’s
years of experience and
research in this somewhat
niche area of speech
pathology. Julia’s passion
for helping her clients and
sharing her knowledge was
reflected in the glowingly
positive evaluations from the
registrants.
Melissa Ridd
NT CPD
We would also to take this
opportunity to thank Melissa
Ridd (aka Melba) for being
the lynchpin in NT CPD –
Melba is a dedicated and
valued member of the CPD
team, and we genuinely
appreciate her efficiency and
skills in being a wonderful
SPA CPD rep at workshops
in the NT. Many thanks
Melba!

The most recent National Tour workshop by Dr Starling ran in Darwin on 26/27 June 2014.
A very productive and beneficial
meeting was held in mid-July at
National Office for the team of SPA
CPD employees.
A range of topics were discussed,
with external and internal visitors
also attending the meeting. It was
a jam-packed 1.6 days with lots of
actions resulting and lots for the
CPD Coordinators to take back
to their respective Branches for
further discussion.
In the words of those who
attended, the benefits of the
meeting included: “forward
planning greatly enhanced”,
“ability to plan CPD calendars”,
“connecting (introduction and catch
up) with National Office staff”, and
“great to see and hear all about
CPDLive (online events)”.
The annual CPD Coordinators’ meeting at National Office was held recently...
