Tasmanian speech

are
continuing to raise awareness
about the 2014 International
Communication Project
(ICP2014) among colleagues.
Nicola Dunn is a speech
pathologist at St Giles.
Nicki is passionate
about advocating for
communication rights
and is the portfolio leader
for the Workplace and
Government Portfolio for
the Tasmanian Branch of
Speech Pathology Australia.
In her own workplace, she is
continuing to raise awareness
about the importance of
communication. Pictured

Michael Wingrove is the
speech pathology manager
at the Tasmanian Health
Organisation (THO-N).
Recently he and his team
wrote and organised an
article ‘Getting the Message
Across’ to be published in
his organisation’s newsletter,
which is circulated to
approximately 2000 staff.
The article highlighted the
ICP2014 aims and the
importance of communication
for participation in family
life, education and the
community. The article
included a photo of members
of the Launceston General
Hospital speech pathology
team with THO-N CEO

ICP2014 momentum continues ahead of SPWeek 2014

of Speech Pathology
Australia (SPA), Alison
Henty was recently
honoured at her
retirement celebration
in Launceston. Alison’s
involvement with SPA
has spanned decades.
Her contributions include
serving as a Councillor
(Board member),
Continuing Professional
Development Leader,
Secretary, Treasurer and
Branch President. Alison
convened two National Conferences – one in 1974 and
another in 1994. In 2001, she was a recipient of a SPA
Recognition of Service Award.
On behalf of SPA and the Tasmanian Branch, Deputy Chair
Kylie McKenna thanked Alison for her continued dedication
to the speech pathology profession over the past 47 years.
Alison was presented with a plaque from SPA to recognise
her contributions.
