The project would provide additional open space in Town Center to provide passive recreational

opportunities. Staff recommends the site be located adjacent to the future public recreation facility

for support purposes and use by recreation program participants.

Between Carolina Street and Jeremiah Street within Town Center Core

Create a public open space in Town Center within the Town Center Core to serve as a gathering space

for events, multi-use, and passive recreation amenities that will draw people to a Main Street

destination. The location and size of the site will be determined as the Town Center plans are

developed.

The project scope is subject to change based on Town Center Core direction, however location

flexibility & programming flexibility is necessary. The Master Plan recognized a need for more

community gathering spaces and facilities that can accommodate special events. Depending on the

size and space the cost will vary.
