A

trio of teenaged thieves (Jane Levy, Dylan Minette

a

nd Daniel Zovatto) break into the home of a blind Gulf

W

ar veteran (Stephen Lang) to relieve him of a six-

fi

gure payout. But this seemingly soft target is far from

h

elpless and the intruders soon find themselves trapped

a

nd pursued through his dark and decrepit dwelling. The

s

econd feature from director Fede Alvarez (following his

re

spectable remake of

Evil Dead

) offers a neat reversal

o

n the 'blind victim stalked by psychopath' scenario from

W

ait Until Dark

and

Blind Terror

, mixed with a liberal

dose of Wes Craven's

The People Under the Stairs

. If you can ignore the

obvious implausibility of a sightless antagonist, this relentless game of cat

and mouse delivers a nail-biting exercise in sustained suspense. It also

features a gross-out moment that'll become a major talking point.

O

K, we promise we won’t use either of those words

a

gain in this review, swee- DAMN! Anyway, those

d

oyennes of everything absolute and fabulous, Edina

(J

ennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley), have

h

it their sixties, and needless to say they’re not taking

it

gracefully. Hey, why change now?! Anyway, while

P

ats gets busy with Botox, Eddy needs to save her

s

inking PR company. Erm, speaking of sinking, could

K

ate Moss be the answer?

Ab Fab

’s transition from

little screen to really bloody big one sees all of the original main

cast returning. Add to that a suitably daft story and a raft of cameos

that must have blown the Stoli-Bolli budget sky high, and this is a

suitably fabulous love letter for the show’s many fans.

T

he story made headlines in 2009, when Sully

55 people onboard emerged unscathed and Sully

as declared a hero. Director Clint Eastwood’s

f

ilm delves into the investigation that followed the

i

ncident, where Sully’s actions are called into question.

Eastwood presents a straightforward version of the story that’s solely

concerned with the facts. Moreover,

Sully

celebrates its eponymous

hero and the “Miracle on the Hudson” without the descent into

sentiment that tends to clog inspiring true stories.
