The preface to this publication expresses the hope to

publish other volumes in the " I . L . R . M ." series for

particular early years or groups of years, which is a

welcome assurance.

However, one must comment that there is, in the

publishing of this volume, an oblique criticism of the

Irish Council for Law Reporting, which publishes the

"Irish Reports". It has always been regrettable that

financial constraints over the years have prevented the

permanent reporting of all the reserved judgments of

the High Court and the Supreme Court. For that reason

the Bar has had to rely on the (fallible!) communal

memory of the Law Library and of judges themselves to

maintain and adequate ' book' of Irish precedents.

To conclude on a positive note, it is understood that

the publishers of the "Irish Reports" intend in the

future to publish two volumes per year. This should

increase considerably the number of reported cases. In

so far as the activities of Round Hall Press have

encouraged that development, they deserve our thanks.
