Law Clerks Course
College of Commerce Rathmines
From 1981 to 1984, and also for the year 1985-1986, a one year course for law clerks has successfully
been run at the College of Commerce Rathmines. This course is organised jointly by the Law Society
and the College of Commerce with the teaching being done mainly by solicitors.
The subjects covered are:-
Conveyancing, Civil Litigation, Company Law and Probate.
It is anticipated that lectures will be held two evenings a week.
The course, which aims to give the law clerk a basic knowledge of the subjects covered, is widely
regarded as being of real benefit to employer and employee alike. The employer benefits by the
increased legal knowledge of the clerk, the clerk by an increased interest arising from his or her
greater knowledge and enhanced prospects.
In seeking to plan ahead, the Society needs to know the likely future demand and in particular
the numbers seeking places in the academic year commencing in September 1986.
Solicitors are asked to bring this notice to the attention of their clerks. All enquiries about the
course should be made to Albert Power, Education Officer, The Law Society, Blackhall Place,
Dublin 7.
