Shields Golf Outing

The Shields Golf Outing, which is confined to

Members of the Legal Profession in the County of

Galway, took place at Loughrea Golf Club on Saturday,

17 May. Twenty Members took part and despite the gale

which blew all day a most enjoyable time was had by all.

Dinner took place afterwards in the Meadow Court

Restaurant.

The following were the prize winners:

1st Michael Molloy

2nd Kevin Geraghty

3rd Norbert Colbert

4th Kieran Murphy

5th Brian Claffey

The Ladies' prize was won by Karina Doyle. The

draw which was held was won by Una Fleming.

The Committee wish to thank the Shields Family,

Loughrea Golf Club, the organising sub-committee

chaired by Brian Claffey and the Sponsors of the prizes.

SOCIAL WELFARE LAW COURSE

The Centre for the Study of Family Law and Social Welfare Law is offering a short, intensive 3-week

course of lectures on Social Welfare Law, beginning on Monday, 8 September, 1986

The purpose of the course is to familiarise the participants primarily with the law relating to the income

maintenance schemes administered by the Department of Social Welfare and the Health Boards, though

reference will also be made to the Redundancy Payments Acts and the Scheme of Civil Legal Aid and

Advice. In addition the proposals in the forthcoming Report of the Commission on Social Welfare

will be examined if they are published before September.

The number of places on the course is limited, and there is a course fee of £30* Six two-hour lectures,

from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m., will be given on the Mondays and Wednesdays of the 3 weeks beginning Monday,

8 September.
