All this means that one nation’s economy can’t be pulled out separately from all the rest:

whatever helps or hurts one will end up affecting all the others as well. Culturally, we also

share ideas and viewpoints around the world. People not only move from country to coun-

try more than they once did, but we also communicate far more easily today. The Internet

has been a powerful tool for globalization.

And so has professional basketball. The NBA has brought a piece of American culture

to countries around the globe, while at the same time, those countries are sending their

players to the NBA. Basketball is crossing borders. It’s linking people together in a global

community that has one big thing in common: they all love basketball and its superstar

players.
