A

s I walk around my condominium complex on a

beautiful spring day, I begin to think about how I,

as a volunteer community leader, can continue to

make a positive contribution to the well-being of my com-

munity. One thing I have learned in my three years as a

board member is that educating oneself about community

association living and keeping up on current events in the

industry is critical to making good decisions benefitting the

residents of my community.

The organizations I turn to for educating myself about

community association living are CAI-NJ, CAI-National, and

FCAR (Foundation for Community Association Research, an

affiliate of CAI). These three industry organizations are

dedicated to providing education, resources, and network-

ing for community association volunteers, property manag-

ers, and service providers. Without the “CAI Knowledge

Umbrella,” volunteer association leaders would be figura-

tively drowned in community association challenges with-

out the necessary support that they need.
