IFRANA’s 2017 Annual Meeting: Connecting Makes Scents EVENTS &

IFRANA leadership and members gathered for a day of learning, networking, and advancing the industry at its 2017 Annual Meeting, held November 14, 2017, in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. With a record number of attendees and an engaging program of speakers, the event, which was themed “Connecting Makes Scents,” was well received among members—one of whom reported it was “one of the best annual meetings I have attended!” During the morning’s Annual Business Meeting, members heard fromkey leadership on the organization’s 2017 achievements as well as its goals for the future. Along with then-incoming Chairman Robert Weinstein of Robertet, Inc., IFRANA President & CEO Farah K. Ahmed also gave a touching farewell to then- outgoing Chairman, Steve Tanner ofArylessence, Inc., applauding his many contributions to the organization, and presented him with a group photo from IFRANA’s record-breaking Lobby Day in 2017. The afternoon’s speakers provided key insight into current challenges and opportunities in the fragrance industry. Former Senator Byron Dorgan and Dan Renberg, both of Arent Fox, LLP, spoke to the current policy climate with, “News from the Capital: A Federal Policy Update.” Stephen Sibert of Silbert Advisory Services and Oommen Thomas, PhD, of KPMG, explored how to better capture the story of fragrance in “Defining an Industry: Establishing the U.S. Fragrance Narrative,” and David B. Fischer of theAmerican Chemistry Council addressed regulatory concerns with, “Accuracy in Public Health Research.” Finally, Francie Dalton of Dalton Alliances, Inc., spoke to the critical “people factor” in our business with, “Understanding Personalities: How to Make Better Connections for Better Outcomes.” The day concluded with an annual IFRANA membership photo and a champagne toast—a “cheers!” to all that is to come in 2018 and beyond!
