From the Editor…

I want to take this opportunity to personally thank the membership for supporting me in publications over the past 3-years. It’s hard to believe that I published (36) eBeacon’s over that period – the time sailed by fast. I ask the membership to welcome your new Publications Director, Ron Draper with open arms. Please give Ron the same patience’s, understanding and support you gave me when I first started. The publications role has a lot to learn – and Ron’s up to the challenge with your support! Look inside this issue for the up and coming event 2017 Commodore’s Ball. Please enjoy! Merry Christmas, Brent Malik Director, Publications

Commodores Comments…

Sandi and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that each of you have an opportunity to spend quality time with your families. This has been a great year for us. In my November article, I took the time to express my thanks. The list was very long but all were very deserving. I now look forward to my timeslot in the January Ball where I get the opportunity to give out the awards for Spirt and Member of the Year. It has been my honor to be your 2016 Commodore trusted to steer the ship for the greatest club on the great lakes to another very successful year full of fun and growth. I have received much praise for not simply sitting back and coasting as Commodore, but instead doing the hard work that I did serving the club throughout the whole year. That image was by design, I hope that I left a lasting impression on the Flag, Board, and membership. As your Commodore, I feel I am a member first and your Commodore second deserving no pass due to title. Being a member carries the responsibility of service and volunteerism, which are the qualities that make up the DNA that makes this working club of NCYC who we are. I started my run for the Flag standing in front of you with Sandi by my side at the General Membership Meeting with the slogan “Team Stroh” as I knew I had the best team mate in Sandi that anyone could ask for. So, I end the year with the line…………………….. Team Stroh out!

Get the retirement youwant.

It’s never too soon to start planning.

Many of us have a clear vision of our retirement years. Yet, a surprising number of people have no idea how they’ll turn those dreams into reality. The fact is today’s retirement takes more than savings and Social Security. It requires a financial plan that addresses your needs, wants and how you’ll pay for them. That’s where I can help. Together, we’ll create a plan to help your money work long enough and hard enough to fund the retirement you envision. LIFEWELLPLANNED. Contact me to get started.

Rear Commodores Comments…

It is hard to believe we have had such a great fall season here in southeast Michigan. It tends to make us all believe we put our boats away too soon. This is my last article as your “Rear Commodore”. I look forward to writing future articles, starting January of 2017, as your “Vice Commodore”. Please feel free to contact me, the other Flag Officers or any Board member with questions or concerns. Congratulations again to Commodore Chuck and Sandi Stroh for a great 2016 year at North Channel Yacht Club. We look forward to VC Pat and Nancy Carroll taking the Helm in 2017. Linda and I hope all of you have a safe, happy and healthy Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Regards, R/C Randy Pagel

AMessage From Chaplain Art Brooks…

During the last month, we received a message concerning PC Joe Cox. He had been hospitalized and diagnosed with cancer. Please keep Joe, Denise and their family in your prayers. Linda Pagel had knee surgery recently. Please keep these members and any others in distress in your thoughts and prayers, especially during this holiday season.

Seek and Ye Shall Find By Henry C. Doherty: Count your blessings at the close of day, Review your storehouse of gold.

The golden love of family and friends That rewards you with pleasure untold. Take time to visit your garden of blooms – In each there’s a message of love. The beautiful colors that brighten your day Can warm a heart like a glove. Enjoy your dreams as you glide in your swing, Travel back to yesteryear’s ways. Hold in your arms loves from the past, Back in your rapturous days. Kneel by your bed at the end of the day With your hands folded in prayer; Give thanks to the Lord for the blessings you know – Who else but He put them there? Our time is no more than the blink of the eye, Embrace it as it races by. Let every day shine to vie with the sun And glitter like stars in the sky. Today you stand by the side of the road Watching the masses pass by, Tomorrow, you’ll know the measure of time – You will have had your blink of the eye

Sue and I hope each and every member of NCYC enjoyed a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends. We are praying that you will have the same enjoyment for the rest of the holiday season and Happy New Year to ALL.

T Rear Commodore’s Comments: Rear Commodore, Randy Pagel At the past GMM we voted on new officers and directors and have a great Board to help us move forward and have an exciting 2017. I also want to personally thank Commodore Chuck and his bride, Sandi, for a great year in 2016. We have new By-Laws that also passed at our October meeting and will give our Club a much larger pool of candidates to choose from to run our organization. Please encourage members that you know that may be short on work hours to come to the last two work parties so we can get a good turnout and accomplish the winterizing tasks that need to be done. Financial Report: Treasurer, Frank Corcoran For the month of September, revenues were $22,720 and expenses $33,092, resulting in a net loss of $10,372 for the month.
