THE VENDING MACHINE AT THE SERVICE OF INDUSTRY 4.0

• fluidity • pull-flow system • constant streamlined production • automation with a human touch • standardised tasks • visual inspections • reliable technologies and methods It relies just as much on production means, as it does on human assets. This is one of its fundamental components, which ties it in with the concept of Lean Manufacturing. The latter applies at the level of production and focuses on the operational aspect. It is thought out for the workforce and for manufacturing. Because it is actually the employees who, in the field, can best detect malfunctions and thus suggest ideas for improvement. At the end of the production line it is always customer satisfaction that remains the target. It is a question of proposing innovative products, in just-in-time production, with minimum stock levels. We therefore produce in a constant but streamlined way in order to maintain production line fluidity. To improve corporate performance, Lean Management is based on:
Accomplishing complex tasks, in which people are at the centre of the process, imposes a very great weight on them. With the arrival of Industry 4.0, automation processes are developing and the protection of the teams is an essential necessity.
With Lean Management there is a strong desire to highlight the talent and skills of the teams. It is of course a question of not only producing more, but above all of producing better. The Lean approach can offer a very good opportunity for prevention, because it must be backed up by an upstream focus on health and safety in the company.
Lean Management can therefore be put in place in two stages for greater comfort: data collection and feedback from the teams in order to draw up a diagnosis, then putting change in place while ensuring the staff are supported. The “5S” approach is interesting in this respect: • Sorting to eliminate everything that serves no purpose • Situating the parts and tools, organising them according to their frequency of use • Shining , that’s to say, regularly cleaning the work spaces • Standardising the storage and organisation processes • Sustaining the practices put in place, carrying out regular reviews, improving practices
Lean proposes to involve the employees and promote team work.
It places the accent on learning through problem-solving with, among other things, the implementation of quality self checking. The standardisation of tasks goes hand in hand with the principle of continuous improvement and employee accountability.
