TRADING ETHICALLY AND OPERATING RESPONSIBLY IS A FUNDAMENTAL PART OF OUR BUSINESS STRATEGY Our main aim is to minimise the impact our operations have on the environment and the natural resources we consume. We understand that our workforce is integral to achieving our business goals and we are fully committed to ensuring that all our worker's safety, human rights and wellbeing are respected. To achieve this, we have developed a new initiative with clearly defined short and long-term sustainability goals. We call this initiative Portwest Planet.

Portwest products are rigorously tested and certified by accredited test houses and notified bodies including: INDEPENDENT PARTNERSHIPS

2020-21

PORTWEST PLANET SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME IS UNDERPINNED BY FOUR STRATEGIC PILLARS.

1. ENVIRONMENT We continuously strive to introduce low-carbon and green initiatives by increasing resource efficiency and designing more sustainable products. In 2021 Portwest introduced a en responsibly sourced and produced in the most environmentally friendly manner achievable. Look out for the Portwest Planet symbol throughout this catalogue which guarantees each product’s green credentials.

2. LABOUR AND HUMAN RIGHTS Strong corporate and economic growth has enabled Portwest to drive progress and improve living standards for all workers throughout our business.

Portwest’s fully owned factories are certified to the WRAP Gold Standard. WRAP is the worlds largest, independent, factory based compliance programme for responsible production in the sewn product sector. We use Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR) as a way to measure and track our performance and we are ISO 45001 certified.

Portwest has signed up to The UK Plastics Pact which will transform the UK packaging sector and help stop plast ics pol lut ing the environment. By 2025 we pledge that we will greatly reduce unnecessary single use packaging through redesign, innovation or alternative delivery models. Por twest is undergoing STeP certification by OEKO-TEX®. Our aim is

3. SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT Portwest is a member of Sedex, one of the world’s leading online platforms for companies to manage and improve working conditions in global supply chains. Our fully owned factories are audited using the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA). SMETA is a social auditing

framework that aims to support business practices across labour standards, universal r ights, management systems and health and safety. Sedex and SMETA are underpinned by the Ethical Trading Institute and the Internal Labour Organisation.

to further enhance and communicate our environmental and ethical measures which will enable all partners to understand our corporate social responsibility commitments. It is Portwest’s aim to respond meaningfully and take the necessary steps to address the ongoing threat of climate change. ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Portwest comply with ISO 14001 which means that we have worked hard to set up a fully integrated and proactive Environmental Management System. This system enables us to reduce our carbon footprint and better manage the impact of operational activities on the environment. Our long-term goal is that all suppliers will be SEDEX compliant and WRAP certified and we are currently working with key suppliers to achieve this.

4. ETHICS As a global family-owned company, in business since 1904, Portwest is committed to conducting and growing our business in a sustainable and ethical manner. We have a comprehensive learning and development programme in place and ask for 100% engagement in corporate ethics and anti-corruption and bribery training. IT security is one of our top priorities, we are determined to protect business information for our suppliers, customers and staff. We follow the CIS20 set of best practice frameworks to achieve this.

85% of our garments carry the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label, guaranteeing that every component of this product has been tested for harmful substances.

We are a member of Sedex, one of the world’s leading online platforms for companies to manage and improve working conditions in global supply chains.

PROTECTION AGAINST HAZARDS

HEAT AND FLAME Workers in the toughest industries regularly encounter heat and flame. Whether it is radiant, convective or conductive heat, serious injuries and even fatalities are caused by heat and flame hazards. Workers deserve the powerful protection offered by Portwest’s innovative flame resistant range of products. ELECTRIC ARC An electric arc is a rapid and instantaneous electric discharge of high current between conductors generating very bright light and intensive heat. If a worker is in close proximity to an Arc flash, serious injury and even death can occur. ELECTROSTATIC - ESD Electrostatic discharge, or ESD as it is more commonly known, is the rapid, spontaneous transfer of electrostatic charge induced by a high electrostatic field. Failure to protect against the dangers of ESD cost industries millions every year. CHEMICAL Industrial workers face dangers posed by chemicals every day. Chemicals present danger in many forms. As liquids, sprays, dry particles or in pressurised form chemicals pose a serious threat. Portwest offers powerful chemical protection solutions across the range.

NUCLEAR PARTICLE Radioactive contamination is a real risk for workers inmany industries. Garments that help prevent contamination to skin and hair are a must for workers potentially exposed to this type of hazard.

RAIN Potential workplace hazards can be exacerbated in wet weather. In the rain, surfaces can become slippery and visibility is adversely affected. There is also the risk to worker’s health if they are wearing clothing and hand protection that do not protect against the rain.

LOW VISIBILITY Workers in low light and poor visibility conditions, especially those working around moving vehicles, need high visibility garments to ensure maximum visibility. Portwest offers 350+ styles - the most comprehensive range of high visibility garments in the market. EXTREME COLD WEATHER Extremely cold or wet weather conditions present a serious work place hazard. Frostbite and hypothermia are real concerns for many industrial workers. Portwest provides workwear and PPE solutions for all climatic conditions.

6

As a global manufacturer of protective wear, Portwest products are rigorously and independently tested to international standards and certified by accredited test houses and notified bodies across the world. Internationally recognised, the CE Marking on a product indicates compliance with the essential requirements for health and safety as outlined in the PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425. Portwest products carry this marking where applicable. End users of protective products should refer to PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 for the assessment of health and safety at work. The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that is used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain. It covers most goods that previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods. At the time of print (2021), all Portwest products which carry the CE marking are also being tested & certified under UKCA. In Northern Ireland, products will carry both the CE and UKCA marks. Portwest products are also tested to ANSI, NFPA and ASTM in the United States, AS/NZS in Australia, New Zealand. Work is in progress to test and certify some key products to ESMA in the UAE and the Russian EAC (TR CU 019/2011) standards. TESTING GLOBAL CERTIFICATION

FLAME ENGULFMENT MANIKIN TEST

Portwest's technical flame resistant products have been tested to the highest international safety standards including ISO 13506 , the manikin flame engulfment test.

In order to ensure even higher levels of safety for the user, the manikin test subjects the product to extreme conditions, proving that Portwest flame resistant garments offer the highest protection in the market.

Portwest invests heavily in our ground breaking research and testing programme and work closely with notified bodies, such as BTTG and AITEX , who independently verify our results.

In the face of the most extreme conditions wearers can always rely on the unparalleled protection of Portwest’s heat and flame resistant products. CONFIDENCE | TRUST | RELIABILITY | PROTECTION | SAFETY 8

ARC STANDARD IEC 61482-2:2018 / EN 61482-2:2020 This is the standard for Protective Clothing Against the Thermal Hazards of an Electric Arc. It specifies requirements and test methods applicable to materials and garments for protective clothing worn by electrical workers to protect them against the thermal hazards of electric arc.

22

FABRIC AND GARMENTS CAN BE TESTED AGAINST EITHER, OR BOTH TEST METHODS BELOW OPEN ARC METHOD IEC 61482-1-1 The Open Arc test method is similar to ASTM F1959 from the US standard NFPA 70E, and is used to determine the thermal insulating properties of a fabric when exposed to the energy of an electric arc. There are 3 possible values determined during this test method: • ELIM (Incident Energy Limit): This value is the highest incident thermal energy to which the garment can be exposed with a 0% risk of the wearer getting a second-degree burn injury. ELIM values are usually lower calorific values than ATPV and EBT. • ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value): The ATPV is measured against a 50% risk of 2nd degree burn, given if high heat passage occurs before a hole appears. • EBT (Energy Breakopen Threshold): If a hole appears before high heat passage, the EBT value is given. It is measured against a 50% risk of 2nd degree burn, like the ATPV. All results are given in calories per square cm (cm²). The higher the calorific value, the greater the protection. BOX TEST METHOD IEC 61482-1-2 During the test the specimen is exposed to an electric arc, simulating typical exposure conditions for a short circuit current, confined in a box for 0.5 seconds.

• For APC 1, the specimen is exposed to a current of 4 kA (400 V, 168 kJ) • For APC 2, the specimen is exposed to a current of 7 kA (400V, 320 kJ)
